Use this guide to create a list and enrich contacts by uploading a CSV file.
Create a New List
- Log in to the Cognism platform.
- Navigate to Lists.
- Select My Lists.
- Click Create List.
- Enter a List Name.
- Optionally, add a Description.
- Click Create List.
The list will be created as an empty list.
Upload a CSV File
- Open the newly created list.
- Click Upload CSV.
- Upload a CSV file containing your contacts.
- Only CSV files are supported.
- Each contact must include an Email Address.
- Maximum file size: 25 MB.
Maximum rows: 10,000.
Excel files (.xlsx) are not supported and must be converted to CSV before uploading.
- Click Continue.
- Map your CSV columns to the corresponding Cognism fields.
- Email Address is required.
- For best match results, map the LinkedIn URL column if available.
- Click Start Enrichment.
Matching Criteria
Cognism uses the Email Address as the primary matching criterion during CSV enrichment. This is why every contact in the uploaded file must include a valid email address.
Enrichment Process
Once enrichment begins, Cognism will process the uploaded contacts and attempt to match them with records in the Cognism database.
You will receive a notification tooltip when enrichment starts and another when it completes.
Important
Only contacts that are successfully enriched will be added to the list.
Contacts that cannot be matched or enriched are excluded from the final list.
Currently, there is no visibility into:
- Which contacts were removed during enrichment.
- Which contacts could not be matched.
- Why a specific contact was not enriched.
As a result, the number of contacts in the final list may be lower than the number of contacts originally uploaded.
