You will learn how to apply filters, review results, and take action on your company list.
By combining different criteria, you can identify relevant accounts and take action directly from your search results.
Before you begin
- You must have access to the Cognism Sales Intelligence Platform web app.
- Some filters require an active CRM integration.
Run a company search
Open the company search
- Log in to the Cognism web app.
- Click Search in the left-hand navigation.
- Select the Companies tab.
You can now apply filters to build your search.
Apply filters to refine your results
Use the filters panel to narrow your results.
You can combine multiple filters to create a targeted company list.
Account ownership
Filter by account assignment status.
Use this to:
- Focus on companies assigned to you
- Identify unassigned accounts
- Review ownership across your team
Company name or domain
Search for specific companies directly.
Use this to:
- Look up a known account
- Upload a list of target companies using a CSV file
- Validate existing prospect lists
Location
Filter companies by geographic criteria.
Use this to:
- Target specific regions or territories
- Align searches to sales ownership
- Focus on priority markets
Company size and revenue
Filter by headcount or revenue range.
Use this to:
- Target SMEs, mid-market, or enterprise accounts
- Align with your ideal customer profile (ICP)
- Prioritise accounts by commercial size
Industry
Filter by industry or industry classification.
You can select one or more industries within the same search.
Use this to:
- Focus on vertical markets
- Exclude industries outside your ICP

Company Events
Filter by company events.
You can select one of three event types.
- Hiring: Companies that are actively hiring
- Funding: Companies who have just received funding
IPO: Companies that have recently gone public
Technographics
Filter by technology usage.
You can select one or more technologies within the same search.
Use this to:
- Identify companies using complementary or competitor technologies
- Target accounts based on their tech stack
Intent data
Filter by intent topics powered by Bombora.
You can select one or more intent topics within the same search.
Intent data highlights companies showing increased research activity on selected topics.
Use this to:
- Prioritise in-market accounts
- Align outreach with active buying signals
CRM filters
If integrated, you can filter using CRM data from:
- Salesforce
- HubSpot
Use this to:
- Avoid duplicating outreach
- Identify existing customers or prospects
- Align platform searches with CRM records
Review and manage results
The total number of companies appears in the Companies tab.
Matching results display in the table below.
Your selected filters remain visible in the filters panel.
To remove all filters, click Clear all.
You can also hide or show the filters panel using the filter icon.
Take action on your results
Assign companies
- Assign companies to a user or team
- Unassign companies as needed
- Claim accounts to assign yourself
Use this to manage ownership and workflows.
Export companies
- Select the companies you want to export.
- Click Export.
- Download the file as a CSV.
Use this to share lists or use data outside the platform.
Find related contacts
Once you are satisfied with your company search, navigate to the Contacts tab.
You will see contacts associated with your selected companies.
You can then:
- Add contacts to a list
- Export contacts as a CSV file
- Export contacts to your CRM
Expected result
You create a targeted list of companies aligned to your ideal customer profile, territory, or campaign goals.
You can then assign ownership, export data, or identify contacts for outreach.
