How to set up Do Not Call preferences in Cognism: manage cognism no-call lists, dnc filtering, and location restrictions to support compliance.

How to set up Do Not Call preferences in Cognism: this guide explains how to configure Cognism no-call lists, DNC filtering, and location restrictions to control contact data visibility.

By applying these compliance settings at workspace level, your team can manage phone number access, restrict contacts by region, and align prospecting with regional privacy requirements.

Before you start

Make sure that:

  • You are logged in to Cognism
  • You have permission to manage compliance settings

These settings apply at workspace level and affect how contact data is shown.

Open compliance settings

  1. Open Cognism.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Under Compliance, select Do Not Call or Location Restriction, depending on what you want to configure.

Step 3

Changes are saved from the settings area.

How to set up Do Not Call preferences

Do Not Call settings control whether phone numbers linked to Do Not Call or privacy opt-in lists are visible.

How DNC filtering works

  • All Do Not Call numbers are hidden by default.
  • You can choose specific locations where numbers remain hidden.
  • Removing a location allows numbers for that country to be shown.

How to update Do Not Call locations

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Do Not Call under Compliance.
  3. Review the list of Do Not Call locations.
  4. To allow numbers for a specific country, remove it from the Do Not Call list.
  5. To hide numbers again, add the country back to the list.

Your changes apply immediately after saving.

Step 4

Setting up location restrictions

Location restrictions control whether entire contact profiles are visible based on their location.

How location restriction works

  • Contacts from restricted locations are hidden from view.
  • This applies across search results, company views, and contact profiles.
  • Restrictions help you comply with regional privacy rules.

Updating restricted locations

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Location Restriction under Compliance.
  3. Search for or browse available locations.
  4. Select the countries you want to restrict.
  5. Save your changes.

Step 9

Contacts based in the selected locations are no longer shown.

How these settings work together

Do Not Call and location restriction settings serve different purposes:

  • Do Not Call hides phone numbers but may still show contact profiles.
  • Location restriction hides the entire contact profile.

You can use both settings together to match your compliance requirements.

Expected results

After configuring these settings:

  • Phone numbers from Do Not Call locations are hidden or revealed based on your selection.
  • Contact profiles from restricted locations are not visible.
  • Compliance rules are applied consistently across Cognism.

Next steps

  • Review compliance settings regularly as regulations change
  • Confirm your setup with internal legal or compliance teams
  • Adjust settings if your target regions or policies change
