How to configure Bombora intent topics

This article explains how to use intent data in Sales Companion searches to identify companies that are actively researching topics related to your solution.

Before you start

Make sure that:

  • You are logged in to Cognism
  • You have access to Sales Companion
  • Intent data is available on your account

Intent availability depends on your subscription and permissions.

What intent data shows

Intent data highlights companies that are showing increased interest in specific topics based on online behaviour.

Intent can help you:

  • Identify in-market accounts
  • Prioritise outreach based on buying signals
  • Focus on companies researching relevant solutions

Intent is company-level data, not contact-level.

Apply intent filters to your search

You can use intent as part of a company search.

  1. Open Sales Companion.
  2. Go to Search.
  3. Select Companies.
  4. Open the Intent filter.
  5. Choose the intent topics relevant to your offering.
  6. Adjust intent strength or recency filters if available.

Search results update as you apply intent filters.

Combine intent with other filters

Intent works best when used alongside firmographic and technology filters.

You can combine intent with:

  • Industry
  • Company size
  • Location
  • Technologies
  • Revenue range

This helps you focus on companies that both fit your ideal customer profile and show active interest.

Review intent signals in search results

When intent is applied, search results highlight companies with matching intent activity.

For each company, you can review:

  • Relevant intent topics
  • Strength of intent signal
  • Timing or recency indicators

Use this information to decide which companies to prioritise.

Use intent with Cognism AI insights

Intent data appears alongside Cognism AI insights in Sales Companion.

You can review intent signals together with:

  • Company news and updates
  • Hiring and growth indicators
  • Technology stack information

This gives you additional context before engaging or exporting companies.

Export intent-led company selections

Once you’ve identified companies showing strong intent:

  1. Select one or more companies from your search results.
  2. Click Export.
  3. Confirm your CRM options if prompted.

Exports sync with your CRM through Sales Companion.

Expected results

When you use intent in your search, you can quickly identify companies that are more likely to be in-market. This helps you prioritise outreach and focus on accounts with higher buying potential.

Next steps

  • Refine intent topics to match your messaging
