Administrators and RevOps users can control how many credits an individual user is allowed to consume by assigning a Credit Limit.
Credit limits can only be configured for individual users. They cannot be assigned to teams or groups.
For an overview of how credits work in the Sales Intelligence Platform, see Understanding Credits in the Cognism Sales Intelligence Platform.
Before You Begin
Ensure that:
- You are an Admin.
- Your organisation has available credits.
- You know which user requires a credit limit.
Assign a Credit Limit
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select User Management.
- Find the user by:
- Scrolling through the user list, or
- Using the Search box.
- Click Credit Limit next to the user.
- Choose one of the following options:
- No limit – The user can use any available credits from the organisation's shared credit pool.
- Custom limit – Specify the maximum number of credits the user can consume.
- Enter the desired credit limit if using Custom limit.
-
Save your changes.
Note: A custom limit only sets the maximum number of credits that user can consume. It does not reserve credits for that user. Any remaining credits are still available to other users.
Best Practices
Assign limits based on user responsibilities
Consider assigning custom limits to users who perform high-volume activities, such as:
- Large export jobs
- CRM enrichment
- Frequent prospecting
- API or automated workflows (where applicable)
This helps ensure credits are available across your organisation.
Use custom limits to control credit usage
If only a small number of users regularly consume large volumes of credits, assign them an appropriate limit while leaving occasional users with lower limits or no limit as required by your organisation's credit management policy.
Review limits regularly
As team responsibilities change, review and update credit limits to ensure they continue to reflect each user's expected usage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I assign credit limits to a team?
No. Credit limits can only be configured for individual users.
Does assigning a custom limit reserve those credits?
No. A custom limit only defines the maximum number of credits that user can consume. Credits remain part of the organisation's shared pool until they are used.
What happens if I select No limit?
The user can consume any available credits from the organisation's shared credit pool, subject to the total number of credits available.
Do users receive additional credits when I increase their limit?
No. Increasing a user's limit does not add credits to your organisation. It only increases the maximum number of existing organisation credits that the user is allowed to consume.
