Learn how credits work in the Cognism Sales Intelligence Platform, when credits are consumed, and how to track your credit usage.
Before you begin
- You must have access to the Cognism Sales Intelligence Platform web app.
Credits are used to reveal and access contact information while prospecting. A credit is consumed the first time a contact's details are revealed by your account. Once a contact has been revealed, you can access that contact again without consuming additional credits.
How Contact Reveals Work
When prospecting in the Cognism Sales Intelligence Platform or using the Cognism Chrome Extension, contact details such as email addresses and phone numbers are initially hidden and displayed as ***.
To access the available contact information, click Reveal Contact. This will reveal the contact's details and consume one credit, provided the contact has not already been revealed by your account.
When Credits Are Consumed
Credits are consumed when you:
- Reveal a contact while prospecting in the Cognism Sales Intelligence Platform.
- Reveal a contact using the Cognism Chrome Extension on LinkedIn, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or LinkedIn Recruiter.
- Save a previously unrevealed contact to a list from either the Cognism Sales Intelligence Platform or the Chrome Extension.
- Contacts added to a list are automatically revealed. If the contact has not already been revealed by your account, one credit will be consumed.
- Export contacts directly from search results in the Cognism Sales Intelligence Platform or the Chrome Extension.
- Use CSV Enrichment or CRM Enrichment to enrich contact records.
- Link to: CRM Enrichment
Note: A contact will only consume a credit once per account, regardless of how many times it is viewed, exported, or accessed afterward.
Where Can I View My Revealed Contacts?
Every contact for which a credit has been consumed is automatically saved in the Lists section of the Cognism Sales Intelligence Platform.
If you're looking for contacts you've already revealed or want to see which contacts have consumed credits, navigate to Lists, where you'll find the following views:
My Contacts
The My Contacts list contains all contacts you have revealed or accessed by:
- Revealing a contact
- Saving a contact to a list
- Exporting a contact
- Enriching a contact
All Contacts
The All Contacts list contains every contact that has been revealed by any user within your Cognism account.
This allows your team to see which contacts have already been revealed, helping avoid duplicate credit usage.
Tip: If you're trying to find a contact you've previously spent a credit on, check the My Contacts list first.
Tracking Credit Usage
Users with RevOps permissions can monitor credit consumption through the Credits Dashboard within the Cognism Sales Intelligence Platform.
The Credits Dashboard provides visibility into:
- Total credit usage
- Credit consumption across your account
- Usage trends for administrators and account managers
This helps administrators monitor available credits and understand how credits are being used across their organization.
