How to Set Up Outreach Field Mappings

Learn how to set up Outreach field mappings in Cognism to control exports, map data accurately, and manage update behaviour.

This article explains how to map Cognism contact and company data to the correct fields in Outreach. 

By configuring field mappings and export behaviour, you can ensure accurate data transfers, consistent records, and better alignment with your outreach workflows.

Prerequisites

Before you start, you should:

  • Have Outreach connected to Cognism
  • Be an admin or have permission to configure integrations
  • Understand how you want Cognism data to appear in Outreach

Open the Outreach field mapping settings

  1. In Cognism, go to the setting pages and click Integrations in the left-hand menu.
  2. Select Outreach
  3. Click Setup
  4. Follow the setup steps until you reach Map data fields

Field mappings are configured as part of the Outreach integration setup flow.

Configure export behaviour

Navigate to Export Rules Tab to set export rules on how Cognism handles existing records and associations when exporting to Outreach.

Match handling

When Cognism finds an existing person or account in Outreach, you can choose to:

  • Update the existing person
  • Update the related account
  • Update both the person and the account

These settings apply when exporting both new and existing data.

Map person fields

Use the Person step to map Cognism contact data to Outreach person fields.

For each Cognism field, select the Outreach field you want to map it to from the dropdown.

Use the Account step to map Cognism company data to Outreach account fields.

All standard Outreach account fields are supported.

Use static value mappings

Additional mappings let you populate Outreach fields with static values.

Static values apply the same value to every exported record. A common example is setting a default Owner or Source value.

Expected results

After configuring Outreach field mappings:

  • Cognism exports people and accounts to the correct Outreach fields
  • Existing records are updated according to your match settings
  • Static values are applied consistently to all exports
