Cognism Salesforce integration guide: connect your accounts, enable setup, and export records to Salesforce with accurate mapping.
Export records from Cognism to Salesforce
This guide explains how to set up the integration, connect user accounts, and export records from Cognism.
With the Cognism Salesforce integration, teams can manage data efficiently, map records correctly, and keep CRM data accurate and up to date.
How the Salesforce integration works
The Salesforce integration is user-based.
This means:
- An admin must enable and complete the initial setup first
- Each user then logs in with their own Salesforce credentials
- Exports run under each user’s authenticated Salesforce session
Records can be exported as Leads or Contacts, with or without Accounts.
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure the following requirements are met:
- You are using Salesforce Professional edition or above
- Salesforce Essentials is not supported
- Salesforce API access is enabled
- For Professional edition, contact your Account Manager to enable API access
- You are an admin in Cognism (for initial setup)
Enable the Salesforce integration (admin)
- Log in to the Cognism web app.
- Select Settings from the left-hand menu.
- Go to Integrations > Salesforce > Connect Integration.
- The admin user setting up the integration must have the following Salesforce permissions:
- Marketing User
- Read, create, and edit Leads
- Read, create, and edit Contacts
- Read, create, and edit Accounts
- Select the Salesforce environment you want to connect:
- Production
- Sandbox
- Select Log in to Salesforce
- Enter your Salesforce credentials > Login
- If you are already logged in to Salesforce in your browser, you may not be prompted again.
After successful authentication, you are redirected back to the Cognism web app.
All Cognism users must connect to the same Salesforce environment (Production or Sandbox).
Log in to Salesforce (users)
Once the admin has completed setup, each user must log in individually.
- Open the Cognism browser extension.
- Select the Settings icon in the side navigation.
- Go to Integrations > Salesforce > Log in.
- Enter your Salesforce credentials and complete login.
- If you are already logged into Salesforce, you will not be prompted again.
You return to Cognism and can begin exporting records to Salesforce.
Remove the Salesforce integration (admin)
If you need to remove the integration:
- Go to Integrations > Salesforce.
- Select Remove.
Removing the integration:
- Logs all users out of Salesforce
- Permanently deletes custom export rules
- Permanently deletes field mappings
This action cannot be undone.
Expected Results
After setup:
- Admins control the initial integration configuration
- Users export records using their own Salesforce accounts
- Exports respect individual Salesforce permissions
- Records are created or updated as Leads, Contacts, or Accounts
