How to generate a new Cognism API token and use it for API integration with sales automation and external tools.
This guide explains how to create and manage API tokens for authentication.
By generating a token, you can enable Cognism API integration with sales automation tools and securely connect external systems to your data.
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure:
- You have access to Cognism.
- Your user role includes permission to view Settings and manage API tokens.
Generate a new API token
- Log in to Cognism.
- In the Control Panel, select Settings in the bottom-left corner.
3. Open the Tokens and API tab.
4. Select Create new token in the top-left corner of the page.
5. Wait for the confirmation message that confirms the token has been created.
Once created, the token appears in the list of tokens.
Manage your API token
Each token includes the following information:
- Token name
- Date created
- Expiration date
From the token row, you can:
Copy the token instantly to use in another tool or integration.
Delete the token if it is no longer required.
For security reasons, store your token securely and avoid sharing it publicly.
Expected result
You have successfully generated an API token and can now use it to authenticate API requests outside of Cognism.
