Exporting as Lead vs. Contact+Account
In Sales Companion, the Salesforce integration settings allows you to select whether export or sync results in either Leads or Contact+Account, and standalone Account records being created in Salesforce.
Export & Sync deduplication explained
Given that Salesforce has an advanced deduplication capability, during export from Campaigns, List or the Cognism Chrome Extension, the following is checked to identify if a corresponding record already exists in Salesforce:
- Leads will be matched by the email address, or First Name + Last Name + City (exact match).
- Contacts will be matched by the email address, or First Name + Last Name + Company (exact match).
- Companies will be matched by domain (or check that the domain is part of their website), or Company Name + City (exact match), or Company Name.
If an existing record is identified, export will continue and make updates on existing Salesforce records based on your Update Rule settings available in integration settings.
If an existing record has not been identified, but your Salesforce duplication rules identifies that there is an existing record already in Salesforce, the export will continue and make updates on existing Salesforce records based on your Update Rule settings available in integration settings.
Exporting Companies as Accounts from Sales Companion Chrome Extension
To export companies as accounts to Salesforce via the Sales Companion Chrome Extension, go to the Companies tab in Companion and follow the steps below:
- Select the company or companies that you want to export
- Click on Export > Salesforce as Account:
- Next, you can once again review the accounts you had selected and make any changes necessary on the Edit button in line with the account.

Once you are happy with the changes made, click Export.
Exporting Leads or Contacts from Sales Companion Chrome Extension
From Sales Companion you can export both Leads and Contacts from assigned companies. To action this, click on one of the assigned companies and select the Employee tab at the top.
For Leads Exports:
- Select the records you are interested in exporting and click on Export to Salesforce as Lead.
- Should you want to make any changes to the records you are exporting, click on the Edit symbol in-line with the record you want. Edit the records and click Save Changes.

Optional: If you are using Salesforce campaigns, before hitting the final export button, you can select assign records to a Salesforce campaign by selecting records and clicking on Bulk Actions> Add to Campaign.
In the next popup, select the campaign that you want the records to land in, and click Save Changes. - Then, you can click on Export in the bottom right corner.
For Contact+Account Exports:
- Select the records you are interested in exporting and click on Export to Salesforce as Contact.
- Should you want to make any changes to the records you are exporting, click on the Edit symbol in-line with the record you want. Edit the records and click Save Changes.
- Before moving to the next step, under each contact you can check the account that it would be associated with in Salesforce.

Optional: If you are using Salesforce campaigns, before hitting the final export button, you can select assign records to a Salesforce campaign by selecting records and clicking on Bulk Actions> Add to Campaign.
In the next popup, select the campaign that you want the records to land in, and click Save Changes. - Then, you can click on Export in the bottom right corner.
Note: You can export 25 records or less at the same time.
